Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

At Disco Beads HQ we are considerate about the world around us and as individuals and a business do our best to think green and do our bit for the planet.

Reduce, reuse, recycle

In and around the office we recycle all our waste, a job that Disco Billy takes charge off as he manhandles the bins and sorts through the paper and plastics. Where we can we reuse our leftovers.  We try to reduce our packaging in offering the option at the checkout for “less bags and tags” this means we pop all our beads into one organza bag with one bag to save on paper and packaging.

We also partner with Eden Projects to support the growing, planting and nurturing of trees!  For every order placed online and in store we pay for a tree to be planted, and since we joined we have already planted 10,000 trees!

Every Bead Plants a Seed

Out of the office we are Eco too, Vic and Billy are vegetarian and save all vege scraps for compost  then use the compost in their  vege boxes for growing salad leaves, spinach and herbs in the spring and summer.  They also try to buy from local shops with less packaging, and we all try and car share where we can.

We are all firm believers in waste not want not with Josie always choosing to shop second hand for her clothes and fashions. Her favourite is Oxfam who now have an Online shop. Perfect for those last minute Christmas prezzies or New Shoes for the Xmas Do. Don't be put off by shopping 2nd hand… think of it as a scavenger hunt. You never know what you're gonna find!

We believe we have one world and think we should all do our bit to take care of it so whether it's shopping savvy or recycling  we are all trying to make this Christmas a little greener.

How about you make your own Christmas gifts, it might be a daunting thought but even the least creative thinker can get plenty of inspiration from the Internet. The likes of Pinterest and Youtube have plenty of ideas to make beautiful homemade gifts for everyone, particularly Christmas cards which although nice to receive are single handedly DECIMATING the tree population!  Why not make your own from last years recycled  Christmas cards, or double up by making the card into a Tree Decoration that can be displayed for the festive season and brought out again next year?

If you want to add a  personal touch Disco Bead HQ have their ‘Make your own’ Bead table available in store to make all your family and friends plenty of bracelets and necklaces for all those stocking fillers.

Christmas is the perfect time to 'Re-use', how about re-using last year's Christmas Cards, turn them into gift tags or name place cards for the table or even baubles? Reuse your wrapping paper and unwrap neatly to save for next year! Recycle that cardboard box from Amazon and it's not just waste you can Recycle, don't waste that leftover Turkey, turn it into a boxing day curry!

Any unwanted gifts are always gratefully received at the charity shop or donate your grown out of toys to the children's ward at your local hospital.

This Year lets all TRY and do a GREENER Christmas!

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Big Love
